Overview

DocQuery is built so that your documents never need to leave your device to be useful. This policy explains, in the same plain terms as the table above, exactly what that means: what we do not collect, what the App stores locally, and the very small amount of network activity the App performs.

02

Information we do not collect

We do not collect, receive, or have access to:

  • The documents you add to DocQuery, or any text extracted from them;
  • The questions you ask or the answers you receive;
  • Your name, email address, or any other identifier — DocQuery does not ask you to create an account;
  • Analytics about how you use the App, crash reports, or usage telemetry of any kind.

Why we can say this so plainly: text extraction, chunking, embedding, summarization, and question-answering all run inside AI models loaded on your device. There is no server for your document content to be sent to, because DocQuery's core features don't use one.

03

Information processed on your device

To do its job, DocQuery stores the following locally, in a database that lives only on your device:

  • The PDF files you add, copied into the App's private storage so they remain available;
  • Extracted text, broken into passages, along with the numeric representations (embeddings) used to find the right passage for a question;
  • Summaries and answers the App has generated for you;
  • Simple counters, such as how many documents you've added and how many questions you've asked today, used only to apply free-tier limits.

None of this is transmitted to DocQuery, to the AI models' original publishers, or to any other third party.

04

The one-time model download

The first time DocQuery needs it, the App downloads the AI model file it uses for summaries and answers. This is a plain file download: it carries no information about you, your documents, or your questions — it fetches one file and verifies it against a known checksum. Once downloaded, the model runs entirely on your device and the App makes no further request to keep using it.

Like any download, this request is seen by the server hosting the model file, which receives your device's IP address and standard request details (such as the time of the request) as part of delivering the file. DocQuery does not receive this information, and it is not linked to your documents or to any identity, since none exists. The host's handling of it is governed by the host's own privacy policy.

05

Purchases & subscriptions

DocQuery Premium is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Your payment method, billing details, and transaction history are handled entirely by Apple under its own privacy policy — DocQuery never sees or stores them. We store only a local flag on your device indicating whether Premium is currently active, so the App can unlock its features; this flag is not linked to any identity we hold, because we hold none.

06

Data storage & deletion

All App data is stored in DocQuery's private, sandboxed storage on your device, protected by your device's own security (passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID). You can remove a document at any time from within the App, which deletes both its record and the underlying file. Deleting the App deletes everything DocQuery has stored, immediately and completely — there is no copy anywhere else to remove.

07

Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties, for advertising or any other purpose. We have nothing to share: your document content and usage never reach us in the first place.

08

Children's privacy

DocQuery is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children — consistent with the rest of this policy, we do not collect information from any user at all.

09

Your choices

Because your data stays on your device, you are already in direct control of it: you can view, add, and delete your documents at any time from within the App, and uninstalling the App removes everything DocQuery has stored. There is no DocQuery-held copy of your data for us to export or erase on your behalf, because none exists.

10

Security

The AI model DocQuery downloads is verified against a cryptographic checksum after download, and any file that fails verification is discarded rather than used. Your documents and the App's local database are protected by the same sandboxing and encryption-at-rest that iOS applies to every app's private storage.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. We encourage you to review this page occasionally.
