Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and DocQuery ("DocQuery," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the DocQuery iOS application (the "App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
You must be at least 13 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country, to use DocQuery.
The service
DocQuery lets you ask questions about PDF documents — contracts, case files, policies, and similar material — and receive answers with citations back to the source pages. Text extraction, chunking, embedding, summarization, and question-answering all run using an AI model on your device.
What that means in practice: the documents you add, the questions you ask, and the answers you receive are processed locally and are never uploaded to DocQuery or any third party as part of using the App. Our Privacy Policy describes this in full.
The App downloads one AI model file the first time it needs it. That download is the only network request the core features of the App make.
Not legal, financial, or professional advice
DocQuery is a reading and retrieval tool, not a substitute for professional judgment. Answers are generated by a language model reasoning over excerpts of your own document — they can be incomplete, out of date relative to the document's real-world context, or simply wrong, even when a citation is shown.
You are solely responsible for verifying any answer against the source document and for any decision you make based on it. DocQuery does not provide legal, financial, medical, or other professional advice, and no answer from the App should be treated as such.
No account required
DocQuery does not require you to create an account, and there is no DocQuery identity tied to your use of the App. Anything the App needs to remember — your documents, your settings, your subscription status — is stored on your device, associated with your device, not with a person or account we can identify.
Subscriptions and in-app purchases
DocQuery is free to try: you may add a limited number of documents and ask a limited number of questions per day at no cost. DocQuery Premium is an auto-renewing subscription, offered monthly or yearly, that removes those limits.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions on your device. If you previously subscribed on another device signed in with the same Apple Account, use Restore Purchases in the App to reactivate Premium.
All payments are processed by Apple under its own terms. DocQuery does not receive or store your payment card details.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the App to process documents you do not have the right to possess or use;
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the AI models bundled with or downloaded by the App, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits;
- Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App's infrastructure, including the model download service;
- Use the App in any way that violates applicable law.
Your documents
You retain all rights to the documents you add to DocQuery. We do not claim any ownership interest in them, and because they are never transmitted off your device, we have no access to them at all. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use and process any document you add.
Our intellectual property
The App itself — its design, code, and branding — is owned by DocQuery and protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on devices you own or control, solely for its intended purpose and subject to these Terms.
Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that answers generated by the App will be accurate, complete, or reliable, or that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, DocQuery will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device, which also deletes the documents and data stored locally by the App. We may suspend or discontinue the App, in whole or in part, at any time; where practical, we will provide notice through the App or the App Store listing.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continuing to use the App after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
